Swollen testicles

316597I can’t find where this posted earlier so here I go again. My 13 yr old gray squirrel has one testicle that’s swollen twice the size of the other one. This just came on. I was out of town for 4 days and it wasn’t this way when I left. I’m wondering if it could be a spider bite. I’m praying it’s nothing worse. Any advice on treating this will be greatly appreciated.

I’m not sure if this could be the result of hormones or something else. I hope some folks that are more experienced and may have seen this before, comment.

Is he acting any differently? Can you definitely see that only one is swollen and that it’s not the two being combined?

There are a few members/rehabbers in and near Georgia that might be able to help you with a vet if necessary.

He isn’t acting any different. He’s active in his cage, lets me hold him, he’s eating and drinking. I can definitely tell it’s only one testicle. You can’t see it in the picture, but you can see the other one, it’s just much, much smaller.

I have never seen anything like this... does is appear to bother him or cause him pain at all?

Whereabouts in GA are you... I may be able to get Rupert seen by a vet.

With one testicles is sounds like, "cryptorchidism" common to rats.

The testicles in rodents can also be diseases due to bacterial infections, lymphoma, and polyps.
