When should I start feeding my squirrel solid food? He is 5-6 weeks I think. I've read so many things, but I'm kind of unsure. And when I do, should I start out with vegetables and fruits, or rodent's block? Or something else? :dono :)
Again, I'm completely new to all this, so I really appreciate advice and help from people who know what to do! :grin2:thankyou

Here is the squirrel! His name is Jimmy :)

The first and only solid that should be introduced is rodent block, nothing else until Jimmy is eating the rodent block well. Then veggies followed by fruit.

The best rodent block is Henry's, it is a supplement and babies need only to eat 1-2 blocks a day. He is well old enough to be providing the rodent block. If you get Henry's, put 1/2 block in with him and eventually he will start eating it. At first he may one gnaw it into pieces or even pee on it instead of eating. Eventually, he will start eating it. I recommend you order the Picky block... 1 bag will last a single squirrel a month or so... store them in the freezer:

Do not stop giving formula, we do not wean squirrels... we give the formula right up until release if they will take it.

First solid food you want them eating and eating well before introducing other solids is rodent block.

Thank you soo much! I'll order some rodent's block right away! :thankyou And one more quick question, how much milk (exactly) should I be giving him? I read somewhere that a 5-6 week old squirrel should be given 10-12 ccs, but I think that's too much, because when I tried to give him that much, he wouldn't take it all. So I usually give him 5-7 ccs. He's real little, he only weighs a little over 80 grams. :)

Feeding is by weight, not age... below is a cheat sheet. AT 5-6 weeks old they should be feed every 5 hours.
