Channa57, I saw your other post. This is a 4 yo squirrel. We need more history. Can you give us any symptoms?

Also, we need information on the diet. Diet is critical so this information is very important.

Channa57, we will stick with the other thread. It gets very confusing when there are multiple threads about the same issue. Maybe Spanky can move it to your own thread. We are here to help.

I’m glad you found the thread. :grin2 A thread is a string of posts about a topic. My post is #9 in your thread.
Have you noticed any symptoms like sinus or cold like symptoms? Any vague respiratory symptoms? Any white tears in the eyes? We always have to rule out tooth issues with adult squirrels.
Did the vet give antibiotics? If so, which one?
To see new posts you need to go back out of the thread and then hit new posts. You will see new replies to your thread if there are any. If you stay on the thread, you won’t see new posts.

Benji has had a 106 fever. Stays in bedroom and cover all up.He does sneeze a little. Eating a little bit of pear. This morning he did eat a little bit of his healthy Block. My friend thought maybe he was hibernating. He is 4years.🐾🐾 Thank you :Love_Icon

Tree squirrels don’t hibernate.
My concern for a 4yo is a tooth problem. It needs to be ruled put. Squirrels develop a problem with the teeth called odontoma. The incisors grow continually. The squirrel must keep the teeth filed down so that they don’t over grow. IF the teeth start growing backwards a bony “mass” will develop and get larger and larger. As the bony mass gets larger it begins to invade the sinuses. When/If that happens, vague respiratory symptoms will develop. They will also get white tears which are an indicator of pain.
It is characterized by pain, inflammation and infection. The only way it can be diagnosed is by X-ray. By the way, what do his teeth look like. Do they have a sharp chiseled edge or are the blunt on the edges?
I have no idea if this is the problem but it’s always good to rule it out. Unfortunately it would require a vet to diagnose. Something is going on but I have no idea what. I think a vet will be needed.
Did the vet give any antibiotics? I would have thought antibiotics would have been indicated when a fever is present.
We have seen a few squirrels that were acutely ill have tumors. I don’t think an online forum will be able to offer much help.
