I have a neighbor who found a screaming baby squirrel and mama never came to the rescue. It clicks/ticks when it breathes but otherwise appears to be in good shape. She does have Baytril 2.5% Oral Solution as she has birds and apparently has used it for them and thinks the squirrel may have pneumonia because of the clicking but she has no idea on a proper dose or for how long. She says the baby weighs 132g and eats well and potties well. I told her I'd help look for dosage info but I'm not having much luck. I hope someone here can help.

Bless your hearts for all you guys do for these tiny little guys...I would have a nervous breakdown!

The inhalation pneumonia can move very fast. That seems to be what you are describing. It should not be ignored.

Now a happy squirrels ticks, (like squirrel purring) but that isn't constant and the frequency is much higher than the breathing rate.

The squirrel should be monitored continuously. Upright posture should help. Needs to be kept warm, direct body warmth is a good way to achieve this.

Somebody with the numbers should be here to help soon.

Thank-you so much, I will keep checking and also let her know what you said...I think she has the baby in an incubator so at least it's warm now but maybe she can elevate it so it is more upright. She raises pet birds so she has a lot on hand like incubators, syringes and stuff...I have no idea but it seems that should help.
