A friend found a baby squirrel about 5-6 weeks old and had been feeding it and called me to come look at him. He is making a clicking noise and breathing rapidly. I have amoxicillin 875/125 pill form. The squirrel weighs 207 grams. Can someone please tell me how to figure out dosage for this little guy.

Are you sure it’s amoxicillin? It sounds like amoxicillin/ Clavulanic acid (Clavamox) with the concentration 875/125. I can dose it for you but let’s clarify what it is.

Thank you! How many days do I give the antibiotic?
I would dose this twice daily for 5-7 days.
Always keep the squirrel well hydrated when on any meds.
and give a probiotic 2 hours prior to or after giving antibiotics.
Claxamox can be very hard on their little tummies.
I use this one.
Pull it apart, and use the size of a capital O in
a little formula or water. Some will even lick it off
your finger as it has a sweet taste.
Or you can find Bene-Bac at most pet stores.

Is there anyone who can help me dose cipro to a 1 1/2 week old southern flying squirrel. He has the clicking sound when he eats and it last for a little while after he eats. But it does go away. But comes back when he eats. Please help

Renea. You should start a new thread to be sure that it will get noticed.

Thank you, the clicking has decreased, I couldn’t hear it today. He still doesn’t have much of an appetite but I have been feeding him drop by drop until he swallows it. He has only lost a few grams of weight. Hopefully his appetite will come back with his next feeding. He has had 4 doses of antibiotic so far..
