We live in Winston Salem NC and now have 2 grey squirrels that are falling over while standing and dragging rear limbs. One is hardly able to stand today and now eating and drinking while lying down. Raccoons live behind our garden in open area. Should we attempt to capture sick squirrels and take to vet? please help.

If you can capture them that would be great, but I’m not sure there’s any treatment for roundworm once it is that pronounced.
Could this be a case of squirrels that have fallen and have head trauma? I guess the only way to know for sure would be to capture one, or both, and have a vet examine them. Head trauma can sometimes be corrected with prednisone or gabapentin.

Can you supply a picture?
Amongst the members of the forum collectively there is a great deal of experience that can tell much from a few photographs or at least have a better idea about what questions to ask.

I suppose MBD might be possible if they gorged themselves from a young age at various feeders on non-squirrel appropriate food. That can be treated.
How old are they?

If they aren't captured, they likely won't last long if they are unable to move about in the trees.
