Blood in stool

Hello, I have a 5-6 week old baby that was brought to me about 5 hours ago. This baby was found after terrible storm. He has had nothing but Pedialyte and has been peeing when stimulating. He has not pooped until now and there is blood in his stool. There is not oblivious injuries.

Please help. What should I do?

Sometimes they won’t poop for a day or so, depending on how long they’ve been without mom. The blood in the stool is undoubtedly from an internal injury from the fall. It may be minor and resolve on its own if there are not profuse amounts of blood being passed.

I think all you can do is monitor the blood situation and proceed to formula feeding. Make sure the baby is warm and don’t use pedialyte for longer than 24 hrs. If the baby needs hydration between feedings use warm water with a touch of sugar for taste.
