I'm not sure what is going on this year but we just took in 3 more baby squirrels! This makes 6 babies that have been brought my way in the last 4 weeks. My sister had one that someone brought her and she took one of the babies from last night (he was found later) to keep her baby company. I'm wondering how big of a size difference is too big of a difference to house them together. I'm estimating the boys to be between 4 and 5 weeks old. They haven't opened their eyes yet and baby A weighed 94g and baby B weighed 95g. We painted B's toenails with blue non-toxic nail polish that my daughter had so we could tell them apart :grin2

Our Miss Suzy is a very petite little miss. She's only 40g at around 3 weeks but very strong and active. She was doing really well on canned Esbilac while we were camping and doubled her weight in 5 days, but when we got home I read that she should have the Fox Valley formula. I ordered it but it is taking forever to get here. I also read that the powdered Esbilac was better than the premix, plus I was out of the canned, so I switched to that and she dropped 8g in just a few days. I added 1/24th part heavy cream to it and that seemed to help and now she is back up to a little over the weight she was when we got home from camping. Since we got the other squirrels we decided to put them all on the homemade goat milk formula and started the boys on it after they were rehydrated. We've spent today transitioning from Esbilac to the goat milk mix. I was trying to hold out so I only had to switch her once but the Fox valley stuff won't be here until Thur or Friday.

Anyway, is there a need to worry that Miss Suzy isn't gaining weight very fast? She's very strong, eats like a champ and her hair seems to be growing in nicely but I worry that she is so small. The one my sister had looks to be about the same age but is around 70g. She looks almost double the size of my girl. Her's is also an Eastern grey. What can I do to fatten up Suzy?

Thanks!

Fox a Valley makes a product called Ultraboost. It is specifically designed to add extra calories along with nutrients and is substituted for 25-50% of the powdered formula when mixing it. I always use it with my babies and have never had a problem with loose stool. It can be purchased on the Henrys Pet or the Fox Valley website. I also add a small spoonful of full fat vanilla yogurt to my formula for the probiotics.

As for combining your different aged babies....that’s perfectly fine even with the size difference. They will benefit by having buddies.

Make sure Suzy is getting a little extra water in between feedings so she stays hydrated.

Thank you! I'll add in more water for her. Put the babies all together and they are snuggling. Also ordered the ultraboost. Thanks for the help!
