Hey my almost 4 week baby squirrel aspirated. Got him to the vet and Now on antibiotics however he hates the antibiotic any good ways to get him to eat it? Also he’s been loosing weight and weak am I suppose to try and push Pedialyte with meds to get him rehydrated or do I try the formula because I’ve read both and I just don’t want this little guy to die!

What antibiotic is he on and how much are you supposed to give? The amount that is dosed for one this little should be just a drop or two and should not need to be concealed in something to give.
Hydration is very important when giving medicine. Offer pedialyte between feedings for no more than 24 hrs. After that switch to slightly sweetened warm water between feedings.

The vet gave me Baytril and it’s only .23ml twice a day so the amount is very little but he hates it I get like .10 in his mouth and he pushes it away and refuses to drink anything. After I give him 15 min I tried some Pedialyte and I was able to get him to drink 1cc which has been the most he has drank since he has became ill. I’m trying to give him a few drops every 15-30 min to try and get him rehydrated but I feel like he would be hungry to so just was curious if I should be trying formula every 3 hours and Pedialyte between feedings for rehydration

What strength does the label on the Baytril read? The 0.23ml twice a day seems like a lot for a 4 week old unless they diluted the Baytril quite a bit. If you also tell us his weight along with the strength / concentration we can double check the dosing.
How long has he been ill?
You might move to every 4 hours if the baby is over 4 weeks of age.

They did dilute it I forgot to mention that. He only weighs 93grams his sister is weighing in at 123 grams and at one point they were pretty similar in body weight just about 4-5 days ago he started loosing weight and clicking began and that’s why I took him to the vet since online spoke about aspiration and needing antibiotics. They have not opened their eyes yet I will try to upload a picture of him. The med is 1ml sa Baytril and 4 ml orasweet. I did get him to drink 1cc formula at feeding time.

There should be a strength of the medicine that reads something like ??mg/ml.
I agree that sounds like a lot for a 4 week old 2 times a day.
