Need Rehabber in Brandon/Valrico, FL Immediately

A friend just found an abandoned infant, looks to be only days old - mother hasn’t been around in a couple of hours. I am unable to take the baby. Is there anyone in the Brandon/Valrico area that can take it?

Have you tried playing a recording of a baby squirrel calling for its mom? Where did you find this baby? Was it out of the nest?

I have reached out to a couple of people in your area and am waiting for a reply. In the meantime the baby needs to stay warm. As I asked have u tried to reunite?

Yes, my friend has tried all of the above. It has been a couple of hours and the mother has not come back. I am not sure where exactly the baby was found, but it was out of the nest. Working on getting the baby warm now.

I heard from one person that is not able to help. On the FWC website there’s a list of rehabbers. You could try calling Howard Glaberson 407-256-3275. He’s listed on the site as a licensed rehabber in Valrico. There’s also a facility in Odessa called Owls Nest Wildlife Sanctuary 813-598-5926.

If I hear back from the other person I contacted I’ll post it on this thread. In the meantime you could reach out to either of these folks.

Thanks for helping this little one. I just logged on. I’m glad Howard was able to help. I live in the community next to you (Lithia). Now wouldn’t have been a good time for me to rehab a pinkie but if no one else was available I certainly would have taken the baby. I’m happy the baby is in good hands. :w00t
