I found Corwynn on April 15. He was about 6 weeks old. Here are some things I have noticed and just wanted to know if anyone had any thoughts, I'm just a curious soul....
1. When I found Corwynn he was orphaned but completely fine, no wounds etc. But he had the roughest chin. His chin had spiky hairs like a man with a rough shave, his entire chin. I'd only raised girls, so I thought, oh, boy squirrels have rough chins. It stayed like that for a month, then after a month, his chin got soft as a babies butt. Now I'm thinking, why did he have such a rough chin? I might have a photo somewhere. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
2. Corwynn had the hiccups from the time I got him. He had them several times a day, hiccuping from 25 to 85 repetitions. I was concerned, but too busy to post the question. As the weeks went by he did this less. He's about 13 weeks old now, and he still hiccups a little, at least once a day, but not long stretches. Is this anything I should be concerned about?
3. A little bit ago, Corwynn fell asleep in my hand, curled up in a ball, for about 45 minutes as I gave him soft rubbings. Again, he's about 13 weeks old. When he awoke and stretched, I kissed his head, and he let out the softest little squeak. It was a really sweet cute sound. I'd never heard this from a squirrel before, but honestly, I never kissed the heads of the first squirrels I raised, I was way too unsure of myself and what I was doing to be kissing them, I was only trying to simply keep them alive. This time around, I am a lot more relaxed, thankfully. I'm just wondering if anyone knows what this means or have had their squirrels do this.
Thank you to anyone who has experience or thoughts on these simply questions.
