A baby squirrel, fully furred, came up to my in laws 2 different ones 2 days in a row. They brought them to me yesterday. One has died, the other is lively and happy. Before seeing the epilac warning, I gave him that and hes done ok.
But I don't know what age he is or what to get for him. Do i put back in wild? He seems fine? If not, what do they eat? Formula, fruit, seeds???
Please help

No, please don’t put it back outside. It is orphaned. When a baby approaches a human it’s because the mother has not returned to the nest. It needs help. Would you like us to find a rehabber for you? There are members on TSB from your state. Let me get a link that will give baby squirrel care instructions. https://www.henryspets.com/1-baby-squirrel-care-guide/

You can start the temporary Goat Milk recipe that is on the link. If you’re going to keep it, I would order FoxValley 20:50 from the Henry’s Healthy Pets website.

Are the eyes open? The eyes open at 5 weeks.

His eyes are open, has all his fur. The only goat milk I have access to is the milk for actual goats. The formula I can get on amazon won't get here for another 5 days. Will it be ok to to give the esbilac formula.

That goat milk won’t work. I guess if it’s all you have, you can use it. Add 1/2 teaspoon of heavy cream to a batch of the formula. That will help a little. PLEASE, transition to FoxValley 20:50 as soon as it arrives. There are still some that are using it but I will never use it again. Last season, Esbilac killed probably a thousand baby wildlife and I can’t forgive that.

Oh no. Ok... thank you so much. I have manna pro kid milk for goat kids (milk replacer with probiotics for goat kids)
I'll make the mix for him.
What about nuts and apples and blue berries? My husband and kids gave him some and he seemed to like it. Used it more for chewing. Only seemed to consume 2 blue berries.

I meant the Esbilac. You can use the Esbilac for a few days. The baby kid formula won’t work.

Babies shouldn’t have nuts at all. They are terribly unhealthy. When I raise babies, they don’t even see a nut until they wean and are nearing release. I would also be cautious about giving fruit as well. They love fruit but again, it should be limited. If they get hooked on unhealthy foods like nuts and fruit you will never get them to eat healthy. The first solid food should be a rodent block. This is where many of the nutrients will come from when the baby is weaned. There are two types of blocks. One is a supplement block made by Henry’s Healthy Pets. They have a block specifically for baby squirrels. It is one block per day for babies. The other option is a commercial rodent block. A few can be purchased at pet retailers. Examples are Mazuri rodent block or Oxbow Healthy Essentials rodent block. The best commercial rodent block (IMO) is Envigo Teklad 2018 but it has to be ordered online. Amazon carries it.

After they are eating the blocks well you can start introducing healthy veggies like kale, broccoli, sugar snap peas, etc.

Hello,
Welcome to TSB.
Would you like us to find a rehabber for you?
You are getting great help!

We have rehabbers near you that are exceptional and would take the baby tomorrow. The baby could be on proper formula right away. With all the pressure from the Coronavirus, Amazon deliveries are taking much longer than usual. I heard they were suspending two day Prime deliveries because it just isn’t possible right now.

Please consider letting the baby go to a rehabber. They are precious little babies but they are a lot of work.

Thanks for helping your baby Bdk!

I know you have a lot going on right now, but pics and video's of your baby would be helpful!

Also, does he have a name yet?

I wouldn't mind getting the info for a rehaber. My kids and hubby are already attached, as am I. But I'm scared of him not getting everything he needs. Though I did just order a block and 20/50 formula and paid extra to have it express delivered.... so hopefully it gets here sooner than later ecpessially with everything that is going on.
Thank you

Thank you so much for that offer, sorry I'm late in responding. I'm still interested in giving to you though, and I'll give you the supplies.
I just need to convince my husband. In the meantime, I'm feeding every 4 hours, haven't given any other food since the other day and giving about 5mL a feeding. Waiting on a scale though. He seems to want more each feeding... hes gone from about 1.5 to 2 mL to 5mL.
I ordered from Henry's Sunday night and cancelled the Amazon order. It should be here tomorrow.
I'm trying to post a pic, but having trouble

This would be great! They do so much better with other ones there age which we will be able to accommodate. They do not make good pets. They are so cute when there little but when the get grown they will destroy everything you own. Just let me no I am ready when ever you are.

Since cancelling Amazon order what is the formula you are feeding?
