i am holding him upright wrapped in fleece with head pointing down and 0.5cc miracle o-ring syringe pointed up at 45 degree angle. rehydration solution is warm. trying 1 drop in the side of his mouth but he will not swallow. just seems to want to sleep. i piddled him right before. he's too skinny and desperately needs fluids. how can i hydrate him?

Try making the fluid a little hotter.

Can I try to help you find a rehabber in your area? I think you need experienced hands on this baby to save him.

When an animal cannot or will not take hydration by mouth, it is imperative that you give it sub-cutaneous fluids (Sub-Q). A rehabber can do this for you if we can find one nearby. Otherwise, maybe a friendly vet?

I think Sissy is in Spencer—or therebouts. That’s 1/2 hour maybe 45 minutes from Charlotte. She’s moved but maybe not too far. If so she knows rehabbers in that area and there’s squirrel vets in Charlotte.
