what is the dosage range of cipro?

i can calculate the amount to give using the BW and concentration of cipro, just need dosage range pls. it's for a 16g SCCA pinky w/ AP. thank you.

Dosage: 2.5-15 mg/kg
Strength: 22.7 mg/ml
The Wild Mammal Babies book doses at 10 mg/kg
That amount would be the total daily dose.
Most of us will give that as the loading dose and then
cut that amount in half and give twice daily 12 hours apart.

i have the 3rd edition of that book and see no mention of Cipro in the Table of Contents or the Index. where are you seeing that?

Cipro is the human equivalent ("close chemical cousin") of Baytril.
Baytril is on page 235.

Edit: We use it all the time here as it is more accessible than Baytril.

Nancy is 100% correct. The WMB book has it listed as Baytril or Enrofloxin but Cipro is the human use equivalent for all intents and purposes. Technically, there are some slight differences between Cipro and Baytril in terms of how they are metabolized but that is not really important. For your little squirrel Baytril=Cipro.

right i am familiar with Enrofloxacin. I just know that sometimes they develop animal versions of medications because the human version has something in it that’s not good for animals. but if it’s widely used here, i’ll go with it. thanks!!
