Hi all. I have a question... Just returned found out that I have tested positive (and apparently with high numbers) for Lyme disease. I have never noticed the rash and could possibly have had this for years. I have been suffering for quite some time with headaches and lots of the symptoms. Have been an avid camper wilderness girl forever. Question is..I wonder if I contracted it from my baby Petunia? She was about 5 weeks. I scooped her up out of the street. She was wounded from a cat. I changed my shirt and immediately put her in a warm bath with a bit of dawn dish soap, and carefully washed her and felt around for injuries. I had her there for a bit, cleaned out her ears and all. Just curious about this. Thanks in advance💜☮️🐿

That is highly unlikely. Squirrels can be infected with Lyme disease but they themselves would not be the vector. If she transferred a deer tick and if the tick was infected with the Borrelia to you, yes you could get Lyme disease. That is a lot of ‘ifs’.

It is MUCH more likely that you got it from the “avid camper wilderness girl” thing. :tilt

I assume you are being treated as it’s a pretty nasty infection and can cause permanent problems.

Well that’s what I thought but you know these NON squirrel people are going to be saying that to me. Which I wouldn’t care. I would do it all again for her. I think that I have had this for many years unfortunately (maybe 7-10 yrs) Also unfortunate that I have not been tested prior to this. Not yet began any antibiotics. Picking up script in the AM.

Sorry to hear this, I hope your treatment is successful. Avid camping/wilderness is almost certainly what lead to your Lyme Dx. As an avid mountain biker, I have to do tick checks after every ride and a LOT of my riding buddies have been on ABs for Lyme (some multiple times).

Lyme disease is awful. I had it in 2007. Hope the AB they gave you is doxycycline, because I don't think anything else works very well for Lyme. Good luck and take ALL the pills, also take a probiotic to replace the gut flora that the AB's will destroy.

Thank you for that info. At this point I have zero faith in my doctors. Or myself because I should have asked to be tested. I have had almost every symptom for about 10 years. I have been to so many drs. Neurologists etc. test after test. Lots of bloodwork . Never a Lyme test though apparently. Lesson learned. I will make sure he prescribes doxy. And will take the probiotic. THANK YOU! On the brighter side....maybe I will start to feel better. Life has been hard. Very sick 💜☮️🐿

I love The Dead...and perfect quote for life, and this situation. Finally know why I have been so sick, and can start to feel better. Thank you!!💜☮️🐿

My grandson age 10 has been suffering for almost a year. He was on Doxycycline, but further testing shows he has secondary infections and is on two more antibiotics, and we are awaiting yet anther blood test. Go to a LYME disease specialist, not just a regular doctor. He did not have the rash either.
