Nope. Getting his winter coat. It is much grayer than the summer coat. It isn't gradual, either - they get random blotches of gray all over themselves that grow together to form the full coat. They often develop interesting little "toupees" on their heads because the winter coat is longer than the summer and sticks up a bit as it grows. It can be entertaining to watch.
Is the skin actually showing through or is it the lighting in the photo?

If you mean the pinkish spots right on the tips of his "knees" then it's a bit of both -- had him under a very bright light and he was moving around and I took the pic with flash. He doesn't have any bald spots or patches of thin fur or anything like that.
And his white spots are white white, like underbelly white, hence the worry.
Anyway thank you. Never had one long enough to see a winter coat grow in.
