Hi,
How many drops of Rescue Remedy (pet variety) do you guys recommend for a 500 gram squirrel? Help him relax for a teeth trim. The directions say 4 drops orally, but pkg shows RR works for everything from lizards to horses. Surely don't want the same dose as a horse! Thanks.

I’ve never used it, but I think Crittermom or Sammysmom may have. You could send them a private message and ask.

Yeah. Unless you have a REALLY chill squirrel I don't see RR working to relax him enough to willingly have his teeth done. I find it helps a lot with shock but there is a reason most vets want to sedate them for this.
If I had a squirrel I knew was going to need teeth trims I would work with it every day with the clippers, first getting it used to seeing them, then letting it hold and scope them out, and then start working on gentle restraint, then just touching the teeth with the clippers, gradually working toward trimming.
For whatever reason, I have tended toward animals of the more exotic variety and thus have had a lot of experience trying to medicate, and have always said that if I could have one animal super power it would be to be able to put them into suspended animation for short periods!

I don't think Rescue Remedy is going to do much. I have sprayed it on wilds and it just seems to co fuse them for a minute with the new scents.

Okay, thanks. I've read a lot of good things about it and want to try it out. I read it makes them sleepy and more calm for vet visits, etc. If anyone has had good luck and has dosing recommends, please let me know. Thank you.
