So I bought a pretty decent cage(I think from exotic nutrition). It is a great size and safe as far as bar spacing but the instructions had no written instructions just picstures 🙃. So I got it installed and had a couple of extra pieces that I now fear I through out....... Anywho it seems they were a security measure for the door 😅. Dart is getting smarter by the day and I fear she will be able to open her cage soon from watching me. Am I realistic in thinking she can lift the latch? (once again my fiance thinks I'm insane) but she has strong little paws. And also is there a way I can fix this issue myself with household items? Thanks in advance!!!

Put up a pic of the door so we can help.
They don't use their little hands to do stuff like this - they use their noses...

Pretty sure I know the type latch you are referring to and I think you are being realistic as I have had several squirrels that
were able to do just that and be sitting outside the cage looking at me when I've walked in the room to check on them.
I suggest the below pictured spring latch. They are strong, hold tight. I use them in addition to any door latch that comes
on a cage even on my release cages. I've not had one be able to get past them or anything on the outside get them off.
They are used for/on rabbit cages.

We used to use a clasp type lock for Rocky. The kind that you find on a dog leash. Matter of fact, we actually used a dog leash.
Edit: or a small padlock.
