Help. Noticed this bald spot on grey squirrel today. Any ideas of what could cause this? Treatment advice greatly appreciated.

Is this a wild squirrel or a captive one? It does not look like anything serious to me. It’s not red or inflamed. He may have had a scratch there and after the scab fell off it took some hair with it. If this is a captive squirrel you could rub a little coconut oil on it, if it’s a wild squirrel, I think I’d let it alone. I think the hair will regrow in time.

Thank you. It’s a captive squirrel 4 mos old.

She looks good otherwise. Have any full pictures?

What kind of diet she have?

And does she have a name?

Her name is Doodlebug. I follow Henry’s chart but my dad gave her squirrel corn on the cob. I wonder if that is the culprit. She gets Picky Henry blocks too. Thank you!!

Doodlebug is beautiful!

Thanks for the pic.

I don't think feeding corn one time will hurt her.

Looks like a minor injury of some kind. I'd say keep an eye on it, maybe treat it with a weak betadine solution or other topical.

Keep us posted if you notice any change. For better or worse.

Thank you for caring for your baby girl!

Others may chime in with advice so keep checking back here.

Edit: I forgot to ask, are you planning on releasing her next spring maybe? Just curious.
