I continue to study the 2019 Esbilac problems.
During those studies I have found some interesting data that I am going to share. The first is a comparison of different formula based on Metabolizable Energy (ME). This is the definition of Metabolizable Energy.

This is a spread sheet of different formula based on the kcal/kg.
Some of these formula we use and some that we should never use but I have included them as a comparison.

While this data does not explain the 2019 issues with Esbilac, it does point out just how deficient Esbilac is compared to other wildlife formula or even a higher quality puppy formula. I’m actually surprised that Esbilac has worked so well for us in the past. I think Esbilac sits on a ‘delicate edge’ between success and failure and even a small nutritional anomaly sends it crashing into the abyss of failure. Don’t get me wrong, whatever is ‘wrong’ with Esbilac 2019 is major but I personally think it takes less than we think to make it fail.

I wanted to include something from PetAg’s own Nutritional Information Data sheet that we should take a second look at. Take a good look at the last line, not the line about Not for human consumption .
I think we can all agree on that. :tilt
Reading that exactly as it is stated PetAg doesn’t recommend Esbilac for raising puppies. It should only be used for intermittent or supplemental feeding. I think that acknowledgment is pretty telling. It’s not even a complete puppy formula. :shakehead

Strictly out of curiosity, does anyone know if the Royal Canin Baby Dog can makes a similar statement?

They do not make that qualification. :thumbsup
