Hello, I'm new to the forum...I have two 8 week old squirrels and in my squirrel manual it said I could add some leafy branches to the cage. I put in a pecan tree branch and one of them started to eat a leaf so I took it out because I wasn't sure if the leaves are safe for ingestion. Does anyone know? Thank you in advance.

I'm not sure but someone will chime in that knows. Check back here often.

I wouldn't use them. Pecan leaves contain a toxin called Juglone which is toxic to many plants (nothing grows under pecans because of this) and also to some animals. I would find something else. Maples are always good.

Thank you so much! I'm learning so much on here and I appreciate you sharing your knowledge. (not sure if I'm replying to this thread correctly....I don't understand what they mean by "reply with quotes".
