I live just on the out skirts of where the Burr Oak flourishes in my region. Oddly enough my GF has a large one in her front yard. It’s a literal fight to try and find these being we have a large population of critters that feed on acorns...and they attack Burr Oak acorns with a passion...and for obvious reasons! These acorns can get literally massive, up to 2 inches long and big around as a half dollar. Just thought I would share.

Wow, they are beasts! Wonder what the nutrient composition of those compared to a red or white oak is.

Honestly I have no idea...if I were guessing, I would say they are higher due to the slow growth pattern of that specific timber. The Burr Oak can be more categorized in the White Oak Family.

Not only are the Burr Oak acorns huge by comparison to other white oak species, some trees have been found to reach a 100 ft. in height!

Clearly, they didn't name it "Macrocarpa" for nothing!!

Um. So do y'all walk around wearing helmets?

Nut bomb's away!
