Hi guys! My squirrels are a little over 6 weeks now ( I couldn’t figure out how to find my old thread to add too) they are doing amazing and are ready to start eating some real food, they’re not really interested in anything I have given them (apples, bananas, bird seed) but have munched on some grass roots and flowers and moss/sticks. What is some good stuff to feed them? They weigh 100g, 94g, and 84g should I be concerned about the one who is smaller? He has just developed slower (though he opened his eyes first) he is a little less active but other than that acts normally. Thanks you guys!

You want to start them on formula and rat blocks at first. Mazuri Rat Diet (pet store) or Henry's Healthy Blocks (online).
After about two weeks of this, when you see them playing.. add vegetables as listed in the following link:

Faith I went back and read your old thread and I saw that you had a difficult time with bloat. You went to the goat milk, heavy cream and yogurt formula. Are they still on that? It is supposed to be a temporary formula so if you haven’t done so you need to order FoxValley20:50. When you first posted about your babies back in August we were not aware of the looming problem with Esbilac formula. Since that time, Esbilac has been a nightmare. SO, I’m glad you didn’t put your babies on Esbilac. It is time to get a better formula though. The goat milk formula doesn’t have complete nutrients. Get them on the FoxValley and then you can start introducing rodent block. When they are eating the block then you can start feeding healthy veggies like kale, broccoli, sugar snap peas, Brussels sprouts, etc.
Please, no seeds and I would hold off on fruit until later. You know how it is ... apples and bananas are SO much better than broccoli and kale. :grin2 You don’t want spoiled picky eaters. Unfortunately most of the ‘good’ stuff is unhealthy.

Thanks I will order the foxvalley now, my other 2 squirrels are gaining steadily but chippy is 20 grams behind them when I just weighed 10 minutes ago, should I be worried with him? He is considerably smaller he moves a littler slower than the other 2 but I haven’t noticed any behavior that’s really concerning I just think he’s a bit special?

I wouldn’t worry right now. When you get them on Fox Valley you should see all of them start gaining weight rapidly. He might just be a little runty but no problem unless he appears ill.
