Hi there, any adivce/insight on this baby's teeth? Bottoms are so long/crooked - actually puncturing th roof of the mouth. I've never dealt malocclusion or other potential teeth problems so not sure. He isn't eating solid food yet. Backstory: This baby and his siblings all fell out of a tree during a storm. They were all the same size, but now that a few weeks have passed, he is noticably smaller and less coordinated. He is growing and gaining weight/strength, just not as rapidly as others. Could a bump to the head cause teeth issues? Thank you.

It sure could. Their heads are bigger and heavier than the rest of their body at that point so when they fall out of the nest they usually go face first. That baby needs both top and bottom teeth trimmed and the upper palate needs to be watched for infection, too.

This condition usually results in the squirrel being non-releasable. Sometimes if you get them all trimmed up right they can keep them ground down but usually when they grow out like this they will continue to do so, requiring regular trimming.

I recently took in an orphan with similar issues. I had never encountered malocclusion before. Had her teeth trimmed. They are still misaligned, but she is chewing more so I hope she will be able to keep them ground down herself. Monitoring over winter.

I don't now of any good videos of how to trim a squirrel's teeth.
The best page I have found is so out of date that it no longer has pictures.. but the description of the steps of how to safely do it is to thorough that I will post the link below:
