My poor baby Charlotte had to have one of her noisiest removed last Friday because she had gingivitis of the gums and an abscess that wouldn’t get better. I’m having such regrets having that done to her. She can’t eat I can tell she’s hungry but she can’t figure out how to eat without her tooth. I checked the wound today and it looks like it has pus so I’m taking her back to the vet today. Can someone please offer me some advice on how I’m suppose to care for her now.
Please help!!
Liz
Ps Charlottes 7 years old and has always been a very picky eater. At some point she lost her right upper incisor so I have to clip the lower right every 3 weeks and now they removed her lower left.

Does no one have any advice for me, seriously?

Sorry, middle of the night. Most everyone has spent the last two months doing 3 hour night feedings, and are finally getting some sleep at night.
You could puree or grind the food she likes to eat into a paste or a fine grind, and let her lick it off a plate.
She uses her front teeth only to break the food into bits small enough for her molars to grind up, so reduce the food into small enough bits that she does not have to use the front teeth.

It’s like she’s forgotten how to eat. I’ regret so much letting the vet do that. I feel like I made the wrong choice. I just hope she doesn’t let herself starve and learns to eat again.

Did the vet give you anything for pain? If not, and given that she may also have an infection, that might be the answer - if she hurts, she won't want to eat. If you are not giving her pain meds, she can take infant ibuprophen. It is a liquid, available at any drugstore. If you can tell us her weight we can dose it safely for you.
I would start with this for food:
Go to Henrys and order some of these: https://www.henryspets.com/squirrel-diet/. I very, very strongly suggest the hazelnut blocks - mine LOVE them, though the Picky Blocks are popular, too.
Grind up one of the blocks. Then add in a tiny bit of almond butter, or even better, Nutella. All you want to do is add enough so that you can stick all those crumbs back together and roll it up in a few little balls, so start small. You don't want a sticky mess. You now have a piece of food that can be held like normal food by a squirrel, but will fall apart without having to put much pressure on it, and so will be easy to eat.
I would do a block at a time and just experiment with what you want to add into it to be the "glue." If you have a little grinder, or if you are a foodie and have a mortar and pestle, it is easy to make your own nut butters from whole nuts. Walnuts are particularly easy and have plenty of their own oil to turn to butter. You will soon learn which are the favorites.

Try offering pecan Enure. Syringe fed.
A little yogurt to help reduce upset tummy
from her antibiotic.
Her mouth is sore so chewing is hard for
her right now.
Dice /chop veggies as tiny as possible.
Baby food will work too.
You made the right choice. 10 days and
she'll be back to herself.
