View Full Version : Question about white poop (again, sorry)

Maybe not an emergency yet, but a big concern I want to get ahead of. White poop just appeared during his last feeding an hour ago, first time. Up until know they’ve been semi-soft reddish-brown pellets. This is stark white, semi-solid but a little squishy, “pasty” as another poster said.

He is 4-5 weeks old I think (fur on belly, eyes nearly open). I’ve been raising him for two weeks on Henry’s goat milk (goats milk w/ yogurt & cream, 3-1-1) formula, then transitioned him to Fox Valley 20/50, which he’s had 100% for the last two days.

He weighs 90 grams (if scale is right, going to calibrate tonight) and I’ve been feeding him 5.5 – 6.0 cc per feeding.

I found several threads on the board that mention over-feeding. Is my math wrong ? Is there another cause ? Back to Goats milk ? Add some yogurt ?

He appears healthy otherwise – good appetite, hydrated, active when not sleeping, eyes nearly open, etc.

Thanks in advance !

Thanks in advance ! At 90 grams, with eyes closed, he should be eating 4.5ml every four hours.
You did not mention how often you are feeding him. If you are feeding him every three hours.. you are giving him 44ml total per day when he can only digest around 27ml.

I suggest feeding him 4.5ml every four hours, and cut out one nightime feeding, allowing him to go 8 hours to digest any backlogged formula.

Thank you Javarat !
Update - when I didn't get a response on here last night I did some more reading and decided to switch back to goats milk formula for a bit since he'd been doing so well on it.
Last night the pasty white poop turned to pasty yellow poop with an odor. However, this morning I see two mustard color pellets next to some pasty yellow poop, so am hoping he's returning to normal bowel habits.

I think you're right, maybe overfeeding, although my weight number was out of date - I weighed him last night and he's up to 116 grams.

At his evening feeding last night one of his eyes was open, this morning both eyes are open. High energy, good appetite. Will keep a close eye on him, plan on gradual transitioning to Fox Valley 20/50 again tomorrow per mix suggestions on this site. Also plan on dropping in some Henry's high-protein block (small chunks) in near future (will read up on it as I'm rusty on all this).

My thanks again. So grateful this wonderful board is here !!!
