Ok.. I don't think this is life threatening but I'm scared anyhow...

All of the sudden, or at least I believe all of the sudden as I'm very observant and would have noticed this... Scooby doesn't seem to be using her left front leg. She seemed fine all day yesterday and until her 1am feeding this morning.

I've looked at the pictures and sure enough she was using it before now. She's holding it sort of near her face. It doesn't feel cold and she has a tiny bit of movement in it if I scritch her but not much.

What could have suddenly happened to cause this? Her breathing is fine, she's eating very well and she is eliminating just fine.

She was a bit more active yesterday than usual because we were on the road. But she was't in a situation where she could have "hurt" it, or at least I don't see how she could have injured herself.

HELP!!

OK don't panic...she may have sprained it and it's sore. Or, that holding the 'arm' up to the face thing is a common pinky motion, almost as if they are sheilding their eyes from the light. Try massaging her leg lightly to see if she reacts to any painful motion. If she was particularly active yesterday its possible she did something temporary to it. Get used to this with squirrels....every other day we're favoring a front paw, a back paw, the other paw, our tail...LOL! I used to rush mine to the vet for things like this until I got used to it.

Just keep observing, and manipulating the leg to see if it gets worse or she's really in pain (even pinkies can scream like anything) . My guess is it will be better by this evening. :thumbsup

Mornin' Scoobinator! Hazel Nut here.

So strange! Just a while ago the same thing happened with one of my boys!
Must be contagous :wave123 which means we're related!

My guy was fine after awhile. He'd been snoozing and my best guess is that his arm had fallen asleep - he didn't try to use it at all at first. He's fully functional now :D

I assume you have full spectrum lighting and feed a good diet so we'll decide against MBD.

Asleep? Sprained? Stuck on/in something (nerve damage :thinking ) Fractured?

It will probably be just fine. While you're hovering, note if it seems to be getting better or worse. Is this squirrel tame? Can you pinch the toes? Does it hurt? (the squirrel, not you!)

NO sleep = very punchy.

Try not to worry :shakehead

HUGE sigh of relief...

Ok... I'm not panicking... really... I'm not.

Diet and light are good. We've had reptiles for years so I'm well acquainted with full spectrums.

She seems to be using it a bit more. She is a pinky and I am noticing that she seems to be "using" her eyes more in that they are expressive, I can see "blinkng" under the closed lids.

She was very much more active yesterday for sure. She does NOT act painful and there seems to be feeling in that she will weakly "close" her toes on my finger tip. Her toes are as warm as the others. They all feel cool when put up to my lip, but they aren't cold. She can move the shoulder.

I'm fine.. really I'm fine.. LOL

I will institute my wait and see method. Trust me with 18 equines and 5 dogs we don't "run" to the vet all that quickly. I'm a great watcher and I observe everything with babies as well as sick creatures. My vet laughs at my journals!

Thanks for the replies!

A full spectrum light is not nessasary untill they are off of Esbilac. Just keep a close watch on him!:Love_Icon Its better to be over protective than under.:grouphug

I want to take a minute to thank the people on this board.

Besides being the friendliest group you are also the most supportive and encouraging people I've ever encountered.

I was reading an emergency thread from yesterday and I have to say you guys are just the best when it comes to helping out.

So... :thankyou :thumbsup

Hey there Hazel Nut!

First :rotfl at the Scoobinator

Related? Great I could use another nut in my family.

Hovering?? We must be related because Ohhh you know me so well already!!!

And yes.. very punchy from the no sleep. Yesterday I stood there totally NOT remembering the nice lady we did the pony party for had given me a deposit. Of course I was standing there with the directions SHE sent when she sent the deposit that even said "As per our conversation here's a $50 deposit...". Talk about feeling STOOPIT and then trying to explain I've had no sleep in two weeks. Poor woman prolly thought I was trying to get more money out of her.
