I posted a couple days ago on baby squirrels questions, I am really worried about my little guy, he is making a clicking noise when he breathes, I know that is not good and I know I probably need to get some Baytril but I don't know how to get access to it!! He is still active at this point and eating well.
I am so worried, I don't want to lose this little guy!
Do you have a health food store near you? If so I can PM you instructions for a homeopathic remedy that should help.

Call around to find a vet that will treat a squirrel and take him in for an appointment. Or find a rehabber nearby; they should be able to to get antibiotics. DON'T WAIT! Call right away. They can go downhill really fast with pneumonia.

Mars has been helping me to find a remedy, I just noticed that he does not seem to be clicking like before, is it possible for this to clear up on it's own?

:Welcome
Mars knows her stuff! Follow her advice and keep her updated on the baby's condition. She will know whether it is urgent to seek a vet or local rehabber.
It is possible to clear up on its own -- just not that likely and, as 4skwerlz said, things can go downhill so quickly that you don't want to just do nothing and wait to see.
You are in good hands with Mars -- and have lots of support back here on the sidelines! Hope to hear he is better soon!! :thumbsup :grouphug

He is doing great today. No clicking noise anymore for awhile. Still really active and eating well. I guess it was a false alarm:)

:) Great news! :thumbsup Just take it nice and slowly on the feeding, and watch for any changes in eating, activity, breathing, peeing, pooping that may require prompt action.

Just wanted to let everyone know he is still doing really good today. Man, is he active!! When I take him out of the cage now he squirms all over the place and starts trying to suck on anything he can get his mouth on (lol). He is getting big too, I am amazed every time I take him out to feed him how much he seems to have grown!!

Great news! I'll move this thread out of the "Emergency Life threatening" section and into the "Non-Life-Threatening" section -- I love doing that. :):thumbsup
Later on if you want to, hansen3800, you can create your own thread for him in the Nursery section and post lots of pix so we can watch him grow up. :poke:D

Hello everyone, my name is Nico,
I found this thread and I believe it pertains to the problem my baby squirrel is having. He "clicks" every time he takes a breath. It sounded a little like a bad case of the hiccups. He can't sleep and seems to be in pain. Is there any advice anyone can give me as to what might be wrong and what I can do to help him?
He is furred, I guess about 3-4 weeks old. We've had him for 1 week now and he's been doing well. When we found him his eyes were still closed, but they opened a few days later. We have him eating a powdered milk replacer out of a bottle 3 or 4 times a day. He likes it.
I would be grateful if someone could help me out here. Thanks

Hi and :Welcome
I'm starting a new thread for you under ''Life Threatening Emergency". I'm concerned that your post won't get enough attention here.
See you there! :)
