Hey girl! New member, first post, new mom! So my baby has been having cloudy irons since yesterday. It’s still is a clear color, just hazy. She doesn’t have any problems urinating or shows any sign of pain/discomfort, but there has been an odor it which reminds me of a UTI. What can I give her antibiotics wise? I have access to Amox/clav and Dioxycycline adult dosages for both. Which is better? I also had a friend tell me you can buy Cipro online for birds/fish without a prescription. Do you suggest that? I am no where near wildlife vets so unfortunately I can’t take her to see a vet. Any help would be great. Thank you!

You have good meds there (BTW, the doxy cannot be used after the expiration date, unlike most other antibiotics). I would likely tend toward the amoxiclav. Some questions:

How old is the "baby?"

What formula are you feeding? We are having specific problems with one of them, but I can tell you that all formula pee is so stinky!

Ciprofloxacin is indeed sold for aquarium use, along with a lot of other meds: https://www.calvetsupply.com/Capsules-and-Tablets-Fish-Aid-Antibiotics.html

To help you dose we will need the squirrel's weight in grams, the size in milligrams of the pill you have; you will need a 1cc syringe to dilute and dose the meds.

Florida is home to a lot of squirrel-friendly vets. If you can give us a general area where you live, some of our members may be able to give you some info. It is nice to have that information in your pocket when you need it...

Hey! Thank you for the response. My baby is between 4-5 weeks. She weight around 50gs and the amox clav I have is 875/125. Also, the Doxy hasn’t expired yet so it’s good to go. And I live in SWFL Florida. And she’s been on Fox Valley since Tuesday and had Esbilac before. I appreciate it!
