I have a 4 week old Eastern Grey squirrel. This morning at her 7 am feeding her left front leg was limp and dragging beneath her. She was fine during feeding last night. I’m very confused and worried as to what could have caused this. She doesn’t have anything she can get her legs or anything hung on. She doesn’t seem to be in pain or anything. This afternoon while feeding she did move it alittle more.

Are you feeding Esbilac? Is yes, please review this thread:

If not Esbilac, what are you feeding her?

Welcome Sunshinesmama,
Unfortunately we are seeing a lot of this this year. The Esbilac formula has MAJOR issues this year causing broken bones. There is a problem with the calcium in the formula. The bones in babies are literally crumbling under their weight. Let us know which formula you are using. We can help.

This is not your fault, there are a lot of us that have had our babies impacted by the change in the Esbilac.
I would switch to the temporary Goat's Milk Formula as soon as possible. Also order Fox Valley 20/50; there are a few links to where you can purchase it in the link above along with the Goat's Milk Formula (Goats Milk, Yogurt, Heavy Cream). You can start the MBD protocol but it will require adjustments appropriate to your babies weight. Once you get going on the Fox Valley your little should then be getting enough calcium. We have seen miraculous improvements in the younger kids and were watching the older ones and hoping for the same kind of results!

We can help you get her straightened out. You must get her off the Esbilac. Use this formula: 3 parts goat milk, 1 parts full fat yogurt, 1 part heavy whipping creme . This is a temporary formula until you can order fv 20/50 from Henry’s Healthy Pet. Get it as soon as possible. Take her off the Esbilac once you get the GMF made up. To make the transition to GMF, start with 50% water 50% gmf. Feed that two times, go 3/4 gmf 1/4 water and feed that two times, then. Go to 100% GMF. Get the fox valley 20/50 and order calcium carbonate from Henry’s Healthy Pet.
Be extremely careful with the baby. She is extremely fragile. Can you post a picture of your baby?

I will order that now. I’m using the old formula I believe not sure if that would cause any difference. She doesn’t have any bloating or diarrhea. No pain or anything. It’s very strange. She’s been on the Esbilac for 2 weeks today. I’ve had her for two weeks.

Does the formula have an icon that reads "crafted in the USA" or "Made in the USA"? We believe the "Made in the USA" is okee dokee, but I'd switch to the Fox Valley to be extra safe.
So it may not be the formula at all (thank goodness).. could she have taken a fall in her cage or gotten her arm stuck int he bars somehow? "Collapsible" type cages have pinch points and we see squirrels getting pinched in the corners of the cage sometimes.
Just saw the pic... too darn cute! :klunk

It has made in the USA with the flag on it. She seems to be in perfectly good health. It just blows my mind how last night during feedings she was fine then this morning her left front paw was dragging slightly. No pain or discomfort just not much use of the leg. As today has went on she has put weight on it and tried to hold onto the syringe this afternoon.

Babies on Esbilac for 2-3 weeks are showing up with very weak bones and and broken bones. They move around like they are not in pain while they are dealing with broken bones.
