We found a baby squirrel in our yard. Tried to leave it by the tree trunk for Mom to come back for him but she never did. He had to have fallen 30 ft. I tried to contact the animal shelter, vets, wildlife organizations and cannot get any help. He isnt pink, had hair and lower teeth when we found him. In order to prevent him from dieing we started to follow your forums on how to care for him until I can get him a professional. He has never been super alert or awake but still did the pedialyte fine and transitioned to a home made formula recipe I was given by a rehabber website, he did fine on that. Waiting for formula from amazon now. He is still super sleepy but doesnt even want to eat. Peeing fine, pooping but not pellets (not sure the desired consistancy), sleeps with a rice buddy for warmth but moves away from it. He is in a box in my garage with towels as padding (heavy rains in our area scared he would freeze out there). He is now lethargic. Clicking sound but not on every breath. Cannot get him to want to eat much at all. Not sure what to do! Contacting wildlife rescur after wildlife rescue many having no room as they are full of baby squirrels.

Bring the baby inside. Do you have a heating pad? It should be on LOW under half of the bin.

Do you have any antibiotics at all? All you need is a single pill. We can dose it for you.

I do not have a heating pad. Have done a rice buddy, heating every few hours. The only medication I have are steroids for asthma and ofloxacin (ear drops for ear infection).

Not a good idea to bring inside. I have 7 kids and 2 large dogs. Not a place for a baby who needs darkness and quiet. Finally in contact with a rehabber but they are 1.5 hrs away. Trying to sort out transport all other wildlife rehabbers are full in our area. What can I do in the mean time? Anything over the counter?

I understand. The only way to save the baby is get him to the rehabber tonight. They don’t last long without antibiotics.

Im not sure if I did this right as I did it on a food scale. He is 75 grams.

Oflaxacin is barelt any left. What kind of antibiotic should I look for? Calling family members now.

I have polymyxin but its for pink eye not expired.

Is it Amoxicillin or Amoxicillin/Clavulanic acid? The 875 mg sounds like the later.
