Male about 6 weeks. Fell from tree and rescued from mouth of large dog. Bled from nose 24 hrs. Improved. Good appetite after 2 days. Still small wheeze but got active then got aggressive over a feeding and aspirated. Appetite low now. Quit peeing so put on pedialyte today and peeing is back but I feel I’m losing him slowly. I have leftover baytryl from cat. How do I administer? Or any better options. It’s a hurricane and holiday weekend so no emergency options help?

Don't understand?? What does that mean?

If you have Baytril... What is the form and milligrams of the Baytril and
do you have a weight on the squirrel for dosing?

It is tablet form 68 mg. Enrofloxacin It is out of date too, of course. He is 3.2 ounces on a mail scale.

My auto correct took over. I edited and updated original post. That may help.

I have him on puppy esbilac goats milk with 1/8 ratio heavy cream added. I’ve rehabilitated, rescued and released squirrels for 30 years and have been diligent and lucky not to Have lost any. This one has tested my experience. His one eye was open and the other closed when recovered but while didn’t appear eye injury I think only the one eye had opened yet. Tail fully furred/ bushy but he was very little. It’s been a week today. He was doing well. Now this. Just info to give you full picture.

Yes. 3 ounces. The pedialyte working as he is peeing good now. He’s in my shirt with towel so I can control warmth and movement.

Thank you both. Nights are the hardest when you have a one doing poorly. I’ve dosed him and will give him one more pedialyte dosing in about 30 and then tuck him in for night and check on him in a few more hours. I’m hoping once he feels better his appetite will return. He enjoys the pedialyte. I’ll keep you posted. With Dorian we we’ll all be swamped with squirrel babies soon again. I’m on the volunteer list.

He made it through night. Started with offering of his milk with no interest but for a swallow. I then offered pedialyte which he took about 1 mil to 1.5. I’ll keep offering every 30. I’m concerned about lack of calories as he is not getting much and has room to lose any. Next dose of antibiotics at noon.

When I get a baby that is that down, lost the will to live, and I am struggling to get nutrition in, I will slowly feed drop by by drop, the regular formula. I went back and read the thread. This is touch and go, hopefully the baytril will kick in. Baytril is the fastest acting of the antibiotics.

I hope so. I refrigerated the bactryl and bringing to room temp but wonder if that ruins it by refrigerating. Maybe I should do a fresh batch.

I always refrigerate mine. Most suspension drugs
say to refrigerate.
I give it right out of the refrig, without bringing it
to room temp.
