Does anyone know what could be wrong with this baby's leg. He moves around a little oddly on that leg. He is the only one of 4 babies that hasn't opened his eyes yet and he has always been the smallest and doesn't eat as much. But does eat well every time. He also seems to not always sleep with the other squirrels. 310971

We have seen that a lot lately. I have no experience with it. So will not advise. If I see my vet, I will show him the picture.

I agree with redwuff in that we have seen SEVERAL cases of this very thing. I think it would be a good idea to treat this baby with antibiotics in case it’s an infection. That is the only thing I can think of as a possibility. If you could find Clavamox (Augmentin) or Clindamycin, these would be best. We could also try Septra (SMZ-TMP) or doxycycline. The slow growth, reduced appetite clearly indicates a problem so I would treat. Even the sleeping alone might indicate he is fevered and doesn’t want added heat from the group.

See what you can get. I think it’s worth a try.

Are the lumps on the joints?

Good morning, I'm here to answer your question you sent over pm.
Luckily it is not MBD since the baby is so young. MBD happens over time and is caused by calcium deficiency due to the wrong diet.
I'm honestly not sure what it could be.
I would follow HRT4SQRLS advice to look for the suggested antibiotics just in case there is an infection.
Once you find what you need. Post the weight of the baby and the strength of the antibiotic and someone will dose the correct amount for you.
I'm sorry not to be more helpful.

I think they are old fractures. He has multiple on all 4 limbs. :( I didn't notice anything until he started getting bigger.

If these are fractures, it does bring up a question of the diet and how long you have had the baby.
Maybe it’s in another thread but what is the history on the baby.

I have had 4 babies from the same litter since august 2nd. They should be about 4 weeks and have been getting ebsilac from that time until now I just started feeding them fox valley for 4 weeks and older. All have been eating fine, no diarrhea, peeing and pooping. I've been feeding them the calculated amounts every 3 hours and once overnight. Could this happen from not enough sunlight? everyone else appears healthy. Also, 3 babies have opened their eyes the beginning of the week and this affected one has not yet.

Your methods are appropriate. No problem there.
No, this is not related to sunlight. None of us that rehab babies put them in the sun or use a UV light.

They do fine and don’t have this problem. If it was dietary they would all have the problem.

Was this baby injured on intake?
