I got a baby squirrel 2 days ago on June 28th and I cant tell what age he is. Hes got a dark head and a pink body. All the pictures I see the babies are totally pink or they have the black running down there back and hes in between. He also has very tiny baby hairs around his mouth and whiskers. Any help would be appreciated so that I know how much to feed him. Currently I've been doing 6 - 8 ccs but I dont want to under or overfeed him. I would insert a pic but I dont know how to get the url of it.

Do you have a kitchen scale? You need the weight to know how much to feed. I definitely need a pic. If I post my email can you email a pic? This sounds like a 10day-2 week old from your description but a pinky could NOT even hold 6-8cc.
We need to get this established tonight. 6-8cc would be for a 4-5week old.
Overfeeding can be deadly.
What are you feeding?

I see that you signed off. I sure hope you see this soon. If you have pinky, 1-2cc would be close to the proper amount per feeding.
Here is a link with baby squirrel care information.

Wow, 14g... that’s small for even a FL baby grey. I had a tiny, tiny pinky that was 21g.
I’m going to send you a Private Message with my email so we can get a picture up. If it’s a squirrel I doubt it’s even 2 weeks. I wonder if it’s a flyer.
I’m glad you clarified the 6-8cc. You scared me. :rotfl

No, I can’t find it.
Let’s see if I can talk you through posting the pic yourself.
Under the post box you will see a tab that says Manage Attachments
Click this. In the upper corner you should see a tab at says Add File. Click. Then click Choose File.
It will take you to options for finding the photo in your phone or computer. Chose Photo library.
Your pics will come up and you select the pic. Click upload and a thumbnail of the pic will show up at the bottom. To the right will be a tab that says Insert. Click and the pic should be in your post.
This is how I do it with an iPad. I’m sure there are other ways.
Another option is send me a Private Message with your email address. I will send you an email that maybe you can reply with the pic. :dono

Oh my. A tiny pinky baby. :grin2 I would recommend that you purchase a mini and a regular Miracle nipple from Henry’s Healthy Pet. These nipples are the best and will reduce the chance of aspirating. Be very careful that Peanut doesn’t aspirate formula. Just precious.
Is the baby pooping and peeing normally? The reason I ask is because sometimes tiny pinks have difficulty digesting commercial formula. If that happens and bloat becomes an issue you would need to switch to the Goat Milk Temporary formula. If everything is working well, I wouldn’t change a thing.
Is the head bruised? It looks purple to me.

Also add to the list above, a couple of 1 ml O-ring syringes.

Edit: Also when making the formula, add HOT water to the powder
and let it sit for a couple of hours in the refrig, stirring occassionally
so that the powder completely dissolves.

That’s not nearly fast enough. If it is indeed pneumonia you have about 12 hrs to start antibiotics. They crash fast. Let me ask this. How is the appetite? With pneumonia there is a drastic loss of appetite.
Could you send me a PM with your location in FL. We have a lot of FL members. We might have one close to you that has antibiotics.
One last thing, do you have ANY antibiotics? A single pill is all you need.
Baby squirrels do sometimes make clicky little sounds. If it comes and goes it might not be pneumonia.

Hey so I have another question about Hazel (her new name) shes been growing super fast and is 55 grams now and also has fur everywhere. But should I up her feeding amount everytime she gains weight (I always give her 5 - 7% of her body weight). I feel like she might get bloated or super fat if I keep feeding her as soon as she gains weight wich is every day. So how do you guys normally do it?

Yes, you should up the amount you are feeding as the baby gains grams so that she is getting AT LEAST 5% of her total body weight.

Aww...Hazel is adorable. You have done an awesome job raising a pinkie. :grin2
She is a growing girl. Don’t worry about her getting fat. We love fat little babies. :) When she gets older she will take much more than 5-7%. Bigger babies easily take 10% but you have to work up to that. As they get older bloat isn’t as much of a concern. Of course, don’t overdo it. When they get to be teenagers I don’t weight them anymore. Actually, you can’t really weight them at that age without a fight. :rotfl
I feed them what they want which is a LOT!
You should see eyeballs this week. 👁

I would put holes in the lid and use the lid. You would surprised how fast they will climb out of a bin. I use containers like these. I sometimes use 3 different sizes of bins like the ones in this pic. Small one, medium one and then a large one. With just one baby you can probably just get a medium bin and skip the large bin. When you have multiple babies they need more space. By the way, to get perfect holes like those you use a cheap step bit from Harbor Freight. They sell cheap ones. At Lowe’s and HD they are very expensive. You don’t need that. Some people burn holes in the lid but that’s unsightly for an OCD person like myself. :rotfl
310556
After the baby is ready for a cage (about 9 weeks) I use a low small cage like in this link. You don’t have to get this cage but make sure it’s a low profile cage. You don’t want a tall cage. The little monkeys start climbing and fails can be risky. That’s the reason for the low cage.
https://www.amazon.com/Ware-Manufacturing-25-Inch-Proof-Critter/dp/B00266RHK2/ref=sr_1_4?gclid=Cj0KCQjwvdXpBRCoARIsAMJSKqKEm4wqK CEPfuZevTKDBVEHauVRRhGt3XU2_X2IQ2YJaOtYEAN9TFcaAtf 9EALw_wcB&hvadid=176947406125&hvdev=t&hvlocphy=9012091&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t2&hvqmt=e&hvrand=12022371582509723039&hvtargid=kwd-172292080&hydadcr=8873_9763365&keywords=small+animal+cage&qid=1563836733&s=gateway&sr=8-4
You have to be careful with this type of cage because they have pinch points on the edges. You can eliminate that hazard by wrapping the side edges with long strips of fleece. The edges can cause entrapment of toes and lost toes so the wrapping is important. :(
You can go ahead and buy a couple soft stuffed animals. Don’t get the ones with button eyes or beads inside. The best are simple small stuffed animals. They love to play with stuffies. It’s the cutest thing ever.

Ok so today I got her into her new home it doesnt have any parts where she can get pinched. I have a few pieces of rodent block in the corner. I have the cage on its side so its longer and not as tall. Theres 2 stuffed animals in there for her and theres a small part where the heating pad is but I dont think she uses it anymore. She also opened her eyes on august 1st and shes doing really good. Yesterday august 10th she turned 7 weeks old
