Hi I'm new to the board. I have a 1.5 year old male squirrel I rescued during Hurricane Irma in 2017. He had some trauma when I found him, actually my dog found him and had him in her mouth. I nursed him and he was doing fine. He had a urinary tract infection when he was a baby but I took care of that. For the past few days all of a sudden he is twitching his head. I am not sure if it is seizures or not. He is eating and playing fine with me. I would appreciate any help you could offer, I just love this little guy. I know he is molting, at least that is what I found when I was searching on the internet. Not sure if that is the issue or not, but last time he molted he did not do this. Thank you again for any help.

Can you tell us about his diet? Specifically, is he eating any sort of rodent block? Low calcium levels are a big problem with these guys if they aren't fed the right foods.

Thank you for replying. Yes he gets Henry's Rodent blocks. I give him 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening for dinner. He also gets lettuce and veggies. I was giving him avocado but I just stopped that thinking that was the problem. And he gets an almond at bedtime, which I just dropped to 1/2 an almond in case that was too much nuts. I do have a short video of him doing it, just not sure if I am allowed to post it.

You have to post the video on something like YouTube and then copy the link to the thread. It would be helpful for folks to see what your little guy is doing.

I wanted to thank you all for help again I appreciate it. I think I have it figured out. It might be hard to see in the video but he twitches his head to the right. Here is the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=la9KhlmhenI
I hope this works.

I see what you're talking about. He is definitely pulling the head to the right. That does not look like a seizure but something is bothering him. I would check his teeth and his ears. Make sure the teeth aren't overgrown.

I did check his ears the other day. They looked ok. I will check his teeth tomorrow when he wakes up. I really appreciate all the help. Thank you.

Hwllo. I am a licensed rehabber here in Spring Hill. Your kid isn't having a seizure but looks like he wants to scratch the ear?? Does he or she have full use of rear legs? Can we get togetjer and discuss diet and I would like to observe the squirrels movements.

Yes he can use both legs. But his right leg is a little lame. When I dog found him she might have did some damage to his right leg, it kind of turns in a little. And yes I would appreciate meeting with you that would be great. Thank you.

If you PM me I will give you my number. It looks like he wants to scratch the ear. My paralyzed guy does that and I reach in and scratch the ear for him.
