My two babies are almost 14 weeks they are I a a huge cage on our porch outside. I’m very nervous about releasing if it was up to me I wouldn’t release them at all they are truly my kids. What are your experiences on releasing how did you do it? Do they stick around and come back to their houses at night? I just don’t know how to do this

I'm attaching below our link to the forum on soft release how to.
Once "final" release, some stick around for awhile, some take off and come back, some don't.
Many will use their soft release cage as their safe zone and use it until they get their selves
established out there among the trees.
Although a few have, I've personally not had a squirrel that didn't wild up once set free. Some
of my releases are "tamer" then other's around me but the wild is inbreed instinct and it don't
take long to kick in when they are out in their own element.

You will get great joy seeing them wild, scurrying up a tree. I soft release mine then open the door when I think they are ready. They come back to eat and sleep sometimes. We close the door at night then open in the morning after I feed them. One came back the following year with full mammary glands begging for a nut!! They are so happy doing what they are supposed to do.
