Meet Chip—surviver of a wood chipper. A treeman brought Chip and his brother this evening. They were tucked way down in a hollow limb. Young man saw the brother fall as the branch was being lowered. He reached into the hollow and felt every nook and cranny. The log was tossed into the chipper. It was a huge limb and when it split the young man saw this baby and actually reached into the chipper to save him. Poor sweetheart was violently shaken by that chipper to within an inch of his tiny life. Brother is doing pretty good—for a baby who fell on his nose but even though Chip is sipping fluids and no longer limp, I think he’s been damaged by the violent shaking of the chipper. He may have one leg that isn’t functional—it’s limp—and his tiny head turns funny and his little mouth looks like he’s chewing. I’m worried about him. He could use some loving vibes and prayers—and maybe some meds. I was going to give him some Meloxicam but waited to see if he would become more responsive. He has, but dear heaven, his responses aren’t what I hoped for. Suggestions anyone for a sweet little shaken baby?

I would try prednisone. He may have internal swelling and pressure from that banging around. Poor baby! Prayers got healing...:Love_Icon

I have prednisone. She weighs 117grams. This is Baby moving this morning

She took formula and looks brighter this morning but there is some swelling in her left leg and hip. And her pee is really strong smelling.

If you have given Metacam you need to wait for 24 hours to get it out of his system before you use prednisone.

I never gave her the Metacam. She was so lethargic I just didn’t want to mask anything.

Sorry—not yet. She’s improving some but the bruising on her belly is worrisome. If you have doseing, I’m grateful.

HOly Wowsers Thank you to the person who reached into the chipper that could have ended his life let alone the babies. I sure hope Chip gets better. :Love_Icon
