Hello all!! I am in need of some assistance with releasing our 1 1/2 year old grey squirrel, Wilbur. He has officially “ Wilded up” and is not Non releaseable like we previously thought he was. Our current problem is that we have nowhere to release him that I feel comfortable with. We live out in the country but we are on a very busy county road and I would really feel more comfortable with an experienced rehabber releasing him in a better suited area. We are located in north Alabama but I would be willing to drive pretty much anywhere that is going to set him up for a successful release.I would be happy to donate supplies or $$$ to assist with this task. I really just want him to have the best possible chance and I know keeping him is completely unfair to him when he is longing for the outdoors with his furry friends. Which is why I am reaching out to you all!!!

If no closer options are offered, I can help... but I am pretty far away. And I have a very busy rotation through my release cages, so trying to work in a reservation will be challenging... Spring Break in Florida challenging! LoL
But it's an option...

There is a rehabber in Rogersville Alabama. I know she rehabs squirrels but I don't know
how busy she is and if she takes grown ones or not.
Want me to try to get contact info?
How far from Rogersville are you?

Thank you so so so so much! That is so generous of you. Travel is not a concern for me at all. I just want him in the right hands. What part of Florida are you located in?

I’ve looked up that area and it’s saying it would take us around 5 1/2 hours from where we are which is perfectly fine with me since I know he would be going to a good place. Let me know if you’re still interested in helping out :) thank you!!

I am happy to help but will not be able to get him into the release cage for several more weeks... and I will be away next week for a while. Maybe we can touch base again in Mid-May?

Yes that sounds great. I honestly can't thank you enough. I am going to direct message you my personal e-mail and cell phone number. I understand if you still want to use the board for contact for now but wanted to go ahead and give it to you. I am not always able to check the board as often. Thanks again :)
