My Roxie's back toe is infected, and she is nursing a 1 month old baby. I don't want to risk injury to her or her baby if I have to carry her 2 hours to her vet. Does anyone know the correct dosage to use with the Baytril 10% oral antibiotic. She weighs approximately 1.4 pounds.
All help is appreciated!307848

Baytril should not be used on nursing mothers. Clavamox can be used but have you tried soaking her foot in Edson salt and using oral antibiotics on it. The picture is quite grainy so I can’t get get how bad her toe is. We can dose Clavamox for you. We need strength of med and wt of your sweetie.

I do not have a prescription for Clavamox. Any idea where I can purchase? My vet office will not prescribe anything without seeing her in their office.
I have tried squirting the Vetericyn on it before, which seemed to help. I'll try that again tomorrow.
Keep in mind that I rehabbed her from a baby, but she lives in the woods and only comes to jump on me for food. I cannot grab her, unless I want stitches. LOL
Thanks for your quick reply.

Ask around for anyone who has even one Augmentin. This is the human version of clavamox. Just one tablet will be enough to break down. Just come back here if you find one and we can help break it down and dose for you.

I found a few tablets I was given last year that are 875 MG.
Thanks!

Was this pill in the original bottle so your
positive this is augmentin?
Did you have a quesstimate of the weight?
I am going to start writing this up.
Just double check that this is Augmentin.
I know your squirrels are smaller down there, so I
will give you the dose for a 400 gram squirrel and a 500
gram squirrel.
If Georgia members think my guesstimate if off,
please say so. I know your squirrels are much smaller
down there.
Do you have a 1ml syringe?

Yes, the augmentin is from my prescription in the original bottle with 875/125 stamped on the back.
Thanks

Clavamox dosing sent for a 400 gram squirrel and a 500 gram squirrel.
I'm not sure how much this Georgia squirrels weighs. I know they are much smaller than our greys.

I would go with the 400gm dosing, that is pretty average for our squirrels here. I have treated some adult males that were up to 475gm but Roxie here looks to be more like our average mommy squees. :grouphug

Update, Roxie's toe is now back to normal size, just nail less and fur free. Thanks again for the Augmentin dosing recommendations! It worked great!
