Hi All! After loosing Peanutty Halloween, I received my new addition whom I've dubbed Jasper. I read online (nowhere official) that squirrel testicles drop at 4 months old. If this is the case, Jasper may be a girl, or possibly have retained testicles. I know this is rare in dogs (I'm a vet tech) but have never heard of it in wild animals. I've had Jasper 2 months tomorrow, the rehabber had him a few weeks and estimated him to be 3 months when she sent him to me. Our age estimate could be off, but he's gotten to be of decent size, so I'm pretty sure he is at least 4 months old.

Can you post a picture? I’m sure with the many trained eyes on here someone should be able tell whether he’s a she or not. :grin2

Thank you! I don't know why I didn't think to do that.

Is that a penis? The little pink nub? 🤔

Looks like a boy to me. The testicles don’t necessarily come in at 4 months. I have a released male that is over 5 months old and his testicles aren’t showing yet. :grin3

Male genitals are up higher, females down between the legs.
Females also have a "protrusion" which often mistakes them for males.

We noticed his bottom teeth do not look "right". I'm very concerned about how long they appear to be, so Sammysmom posted to ask for a photo.

Hos bottom teeth are a little long. His face is deformed from where they grew into his cheek before he was rescued. I trimmed them 2 months ago and planned on doing it again soon after he got settled into his new enviornment.

Yep. I don't know of it's because Jasper is on a better diet or what but his teeth grow WAY faster than my previous squirrels ever did.
