5 month old baby squirrel near Huntsville Alabama needs help

Hi All,

Just talked to a girl near Huntsville Alabama with a 5 month or so baby squirrel that she took in as a orphan. Unfortunately, she has been feeding him a nuts and peanut butter type diet. I fear metabolic bone disease :(

It sounds like she thought she could over winter him and release him in the spring. But she says all he does is cry and won't let her touch him at this point. She would like to give him up to a rehabber that can give him the care he needs.

Your fears would be correct on that diet. The only contact Admin had listed for that area is no longer registered on the board.
:dono I called their number anyway, no answer, texted a message so far no response. Most "known" members are two + hours away.
Can you get them to come on the board so we can at least try to save this baby?

Has anyone told her to start treatment immediately? Buy us some time. I live an hour away from Huntsville but I have for babies now and my hands are full. I’m asking around trying to get someone to take it.

Thanks, I will get her those phone numbers right away. I did give her info on what to do asap. She sounded like she really thought she was doing the right thing and just wanted to release him in the spring :(
