Hi all,

A quick background:

Arthur is a squirrel I raised in my home last summer/fall (currently 16 months old). He moved outside around this time last year, lives in the house I built for him and continues to hang around the yard (I still feed him of course, along with the other squirrels in the yard).

A couple of days ago I started seeing the beginning signs of the dreaded pox.
I don't need the full rundown, as I'm quite familiar with the board (and a lifesaver it is, I'm so glad it exists) and have read through most of the pox posts. But the info that I haven't been able to gather is where folks are getting the Acyclovar, what type they use, and how it is applied.

Arthur is otherwise a strong healthy boy and I'm really hoping I can get him through this. I'm also really hoping the pox doesn't spread through the population because I'm really not sure what I would/could do for all of the wilds out there with Arthur.

Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!

Mike

Acyclovir is obtained by prescription; and the unused amount then shared to help a squirrel.

You may want to consider adding this to the protocol. it can be given both internally and externally on the eruptions.

2 drops from a milliliter syringe equals 1 mg. from this specific source that is noted to contain 20 mg. Pycnogenol in 1 ml.(40 drops)

I got the address and I will mail out a supply of the meds.

Any chance you can weigh him? If not, maybe post a picture and we'll do a collective estimate of weight so that dosing info can be provided.

Here's my boy - and another with my hand for scale.
He's a pretty healthy size for a black squirrel, plus he's got his winter coat on..
