Hi, I need help! I found a baby squirrel and I have had her for 9 days. She is doing good. The only problem is her poo. what is it suppose to look like because it seems to be very liquid and i have to make he go pee and poo after she eats but she poos alot on her own. I just dont want her to be sick. I am very new at this and I dont want to overfeed her. Any help would be great. By the way she is about 4 weeks old I think. Her eyes are not open yet.

What kind of formula is she on? Her poop should be light brown and soft but firm pellets. How often are you feeding her and how much does she get at each feeding? There is a lot of great information if you go to the baby squirrels ABCs.

I'm moving this thread to Non-Life Threatening Emergencies, OK? That way all the rehabbers and first responders can help you get your little girl back to normal. Runny poop is definitely not normal, but let's find out more about your baby squirrel. Good questions, SR&B2:)

The first day I found her I took her to the vet they told me kitten milk. The I looked on the internet and they all said puppy milk. So I changed her milk today to just born puppy milk. Another question I have is she has not gotten any larger since I got her. She was 28g now she is 30g. But she has teeth and has had teeth since I got her. How old do you think she is. Also I feed her 1cc every 3 1/2 hours. thanks for your help!!!

Get her on Esbilac as soon as possible I did a comparision the other day and Esbilac is better.
She should be taking more than 1cc I believe.
At 2 weeks the teeth will emerge and weigh 35 grams.

babytuck3, if she weighs 30g she should take at least 1.5cc according to the 5% rule. See if you can get her to take a bit more and you'll see a more normal weight gain. :)

Thanks so much I wish I would have found you guys a week ago. My vet told me today to feed her eggs and whole milk but I thought that would kill her for sure.
Rippie is right. Try to transition her to Esblilac puppy formula By taking her back to just fluids in the form of pedilyte for several feedings and then esbilac diluted to 1/2 strength for several feedings and slowly bring it up to full strength. It can take as long as three days to bring a baby up on full strength formula. At 30 grams she should be taking 1.5cc (5% of her body weight in grams) per feeding. I would suggest adding up to 1/2 part organic live cultured yogurt to the formula to help get rid of the diarhea. ( vanilla works well ) And I use a product called Biophasma (also called cell salts or biosalts ) found at the health food store. One tablet in the formula twice daily (first and last feeding or 12 hours apart) until baby is back on track. I see turn arounds in about 72 hours. This product is supportive care and need not be continued once baby is doing well.
Hope this helps. :)
