Tiny possum?

So, right now there is a small possum in my garage barrel, he seems to be hurt or something? Won't come out of the barrel, just opens its mouth whenever someone gets close. Not really sure what to do here. I will upload a picture shortly.

Is the barrel on its side so he can get out? I'll get a possum in my trash can every once in a while. I'll lay the canon it's side and check in a few hours and it will be gone.

Yes, we did put the barrel on its side. Thankfully he has managed to run away! Hopefully he’s going to be okay. This was the first time I’ve ever had one in the trash can! Scared the hell out of me! Aha.

Like skunks, possies can plop themselves into trash cans but then they can't get out. Their short legs are no good for jumping.
I get about 5-6 wildlife rehab calls every summer about someone with the exact same problem you just had. :)

That is a very young Opossom and if he doesn't gain a lot of weight he probably won't make it thru the winter. Can you put food out for him?
