My husband and I came across a chipmunk laying flat on his belly on our sidewalk earlier. He tried to run off and made it a short distance but it was very obvious something was wrong. I’ve looked him over and he’s definitely got a broken leg and it looks like fresh bite wounds on his leg as well. His back was also wet like he had been in somethings mouth 😩 I fear it was from a cat. I know he will need antibiotics and really needs to be seen by a vet to see if his leg can be splinted. Tricky part is I live in Alabama. I have messaged a rehabber I know but haven’t heard back from her yet. Wanted to go ahead and start making a back up plan in case she isn’t able to take him. Chipmunk is still very squirmy and I have been able to get him to drink some fluids. He is also using the bathroom normally. The bite is my biggest concern at the moment. I don’t have clavamox, are there any other antibiotics he could be given? I would need assistance with dosing as well!

You will need to get at wt on this poor guy. Can you solicit family and friends for 1 tablet of augmentin or Cipro, which are human clavamox and Baytril.

I have some amox-clav 875-125 mg. Will that work?

I will write this up and send it in a pm.
This will take me a couple of minutes.
I will also send a picture of a syringe with
an arrow telling you exactly where the dose
is.

I just sent the dosing.
I cannot edit my post above to indicate that.
Also I could NOT attach a photo of the syringe
with the arrow showing the exact dose.
If you pm me your email address, I will send it
to your email.

Just wanted to give a Happy ending update. Mr. Chipmunk was seen by the vet on Friday and given an all clear for release after a couple more days of rest! Luckily his leg wasn’t broken, just soft tissue damage. Said he could not have suggested anything different than what I was already told by you wonderful people! We released him today so couldn’t have asked for a better outcome! Thank you so much!
