My fiance does tree work just cut 5 pinkies out of a take down and its the only tree in the whole yard no bushes either. He doesnt know if mom ran or is dead. Should i leave them in nest somewhere near yard or take them? I know moms usually come back but i woupd have to put them in someone else's yard becasue there is no where near their original home

If you put them out, you need to keep an eye on them and make sure no predators get to them before. And to collect them if mom does not come.
They will need to have something like a rice buddy placed in with them to keep them warm. Squirrel moms usually have a back-up nest.

Yeah the home owner was not very nice said if we left the pest he would kill them so i just brought them home. My fiance needs to find a new profession lol but i guess its better that we save them. Most tree workers dont care for themðŸ˜

That’s so touching that you and your fiancé aren’t the norm. Have you been reading posts and comfortable caring for them? There’s more knowledge and information on this board regarding squirrels than you could probably gain by attending veterinary school from what I’ve found. Don’t hesitate to ask questions about anything. There are many experienced squirrel lovers ready to help!

Alvinsimonandtheodore did a great job raising three rambunctious boys. Are you sure you are up to 5 pinkies. Gulp, that's a lot. What kind of shape are they in?
Can you post a picture of them?

Good for you. I did the two my first year, then a litter of four the following winter. I agree with Redwuff, you got this!

Thank you redwuff💞 yes i sure did! But due to my circumstances with a one year old baby girl and being 8 months pregnant I did what i thought was right and gave the pinkies to a rehaber i found near me. They were literally a week old 2 max and were not suckling for me i just dont have the time right now to dedicate to them unfortunately😖 I am looking into buying a plot of land in the mountains and starting a rescue for all wildlife especially squirrels once i get my license which is next on the todo once baby #2 comes out! I love and appreciate eveyone on tsb for the support and help:grouphug

Turns out there were only 3 but a week old 2 max and very healthy! I kept them over night but couldnt get them to suck on the nipple or eat very well and i just didnt have the time to work with them so i turned them over to a rehaber in area. Only took the one picture. I didnt want to get attached it was so hard letting go of the last 3 i had a month ago😖 305506

I’m hoping to do the same in the near future. You did the right thing with your own babies in the house. I have an 11yr old son who adores squirrels as much as I do but my first is now aggressive towards him as he’s crossed over the three month mark. I took on three more babies which he’s again involved with and thrilled. Nibbles gets plenty of time out of his cage but my son will yell and make sure I have him on me before crossing the dining room to the kitchen. Or he will peek and run. It’s quite comical but I wouldn’t think so for a toddler or newborn of course. Ironically my oldest is an adult and just adores them all but none like her. She has six cats at home and I swear they see/smell a 5’ tall hairless cat anytime she visits! 🙈
