I just got in a Fox Squirrel who was cat caught and has a deep puncture in his abdomin. I have Clindamycin (300mg Capsules), Cipro (500mg tablets), and Cefuroxime Axetil (500mg tablets). I have Clavamox, but I don't know what the strength is. The squirrel is just opening his eyes, so he is 4.5 weeks old. He weights 126g. Can someone PM me the correct dosage to give him?

Can you post a pic of the Clavamox? We can find the strength from the pic.
I have had very bad results with Cipro and cat bites.

These were our puppies pills and my wife had already cut them in half. I have 3 halves left.

I see that they are halves. Can you make out BMP over a number. Edit 205
My iPad just crapped out, I have to get the new one. I can't type numbers. Be right back.

Alright numbers are back... BMP over 205
If you see any of this, it's a 125mg Clavamox.

Do you think that's correct Duckman?
If so, I can dose it.
One other question. Do you think the puncture is deep enough to puncture a bowel?
If so, we should dose both the Clavamox AND the Cipro.

I can only make out 1 number and it is 2, but it is at the end of number, not the beginning.
Sorry for the delay, but I am feeding 22 babies also.

OK, I definitely understand. :tilt
Because there is confusing about the concentration of the Clavamox,
I would go with a combo of Clindamycin and Ciprofloxacin .
I would NOT use either of these antibiotics alone in this case. The Clindamycin will target Gram positive organisms like Strep and Staph and also Anaerobic organisms.
The Ciprofloxacin will target Pasterella from the cats mouth and also Gram negative organisms just in case there is a bowel perforation.
Give me a minute and I'll send PM with the dosing instructions.

Will do and Thank you! Can you send me the dosing for those two via PM? The Clindamycin is 300mg capsule and the Cipro is 500mg tablet.

I know you won't see this tonight Duckman but I thought of something that might be helpful. That is a very concerning puncture. If there is even the tiniest perf of the bowel this will go very bad rapidly. Most people think that E.coli is the number one organism in the GI tract but actually anaerobes far outnumber E.coli. Clindamycin is good for anaerobes but Metronidazole is far better for anaerobes of the GI tract.
I would keep this in mind if this baby starts acting septic. I would add Metronidazole ASAP. Yes, Metronidazole is the same drug (Flagyl) used for Giardia. Metro has ZERO coverage for aerobes but is the bomb for anaerobes. Another advantage that Metro has is that there is very little resistance. Clindamycin has developed a lot of resistance.

Should you not have metronidazole I have some from a prescription that is a few years old.
If you need it PM me. DF

Very good idea! I have tons of Metronidazole, so I added that to his AB's as well! Thank you so much again, for providing this info.
On a side note, I think he might be paralyzed in his back legs. I am hoping it is just from the trauma, but so far, he isn't able to use them at all. There doesn't seem to be a break or any punctures on his back, so I am keeping my fingers crossed.
