There is a wild female squirrel in back of my house who appeared to have no use of her back legs - drags herself with her front. I noticed her when it appeared that two squirrels were fighting or playing - when I went out one ran away and this little girl just lay there. When I got close she flipped over and went down a hill toward our lake - when I came back out with a net the other squirrel was tormenting her again. I ran him off but now she's hiding down near the water where I can't get to her. If I call Animal Control I know they'll just euthanize her. Any rehabbers near Newport News that can help me out with this poor baby?

Well, now she has gone deep into an old muskrat tunnel. I don't know how I'm ever going to get her...

There are TSB members around the VA area. I guess you just have to see if you can catch her.

Thank you for caring. :hug

Anybody? She made it through the night and ate some.

Keep her in a warm, dark, quiet place. A small bowl of water and some nuts with some fleece.

I will try to help locate rehabbers in your area.

I just cross-posted this in Facebook; I know there's a Virginia Beach rehabber on my Friends list.

Cross your fingers, guys - my little girl has her hind legs under her, tail curled normally, moving around, and is super pissed-off. She has eaten three or four of the HHBs and has water available. Her eyes look bright and alert - not like they did last night. I'm feeling cautiously optimistic...

Maybe it was just wishful thinking - she's still dragging her legs. She has eaten and is drinking water, and seems pretty alert. She is trying to chew her way out of the carrier that she's in.

Any chance a vet would check her out. Maybe an anti inflamatory?

Don't have access to a squirrel-friendly vet.
