2 week old squirrel on esbilac. I rescued her from someone today after their cat brought her up. I’ve only had her long enough to give her two feedings. They first feeding she did fine with. I just fed her and about 10 minutes later she began throwing up. She has thrown about half of it up. What should I do? I don’t have any other squirrel safe formula for her if it’s a formula issue. I only have puppy milk replacer, kitten formula, livestock colostrum, calf formula, and esbilac

What is the esbilac your using liquid or powder? Is it for Puppies?
What does she weigh and how much are you feeding her and with what?

Powder and yes! I’m using a .5 cc syringe with a miracle nipple. I gave her subq fluids and about two ccs of formula. She was extremely malnutrished so I’m feeding her very little pretty often trying to get enough food in her, so I’m not sure if she just isn’t taking it well from going too long without nursing.

Do you have anything smaller then a 5cc? There is too much of risk factor of aspiration with using a 5cc syringe .
A 1cc is preferable at this age, I wouldn't use anything bigger then a 3cc.
Has she "choked on her formula or have it come out her nose?
Do you have a weight on her so you would know how much
you should be feeding which should be by body weight between 5-7%?
Knowing her weight is extreamly important and an absolute if she were
to need meds as they are also administered by body weight.

My mom weighed her and calculated it so I’m not sure. I’m using a .5 cc syringe as in half a cc lol. Yes that is the formula.

Not sure what is meant by that but their weight known in grams is very important!
You need to know how much you should be feeding so she gets the nutrition she needs.
At 2 weeks of age she should be fed at least every 3 hours.

Sorry, missed the point (.) before the 5.

Can I assume your heating formula and keeping it hot enough during feeding?

Again, has she choked on formula?

Is this a new can of formula or one that has been opened previously? The powder WILL GO BAD if opened and not refrigerated. I keep my can of powder in the freezer because I have had this happen.

I see you’re in Florida. I’m in Brevard County, near Cocoa Beach. Let me know if I can help.

I’ve been diluting her formula all night. I paid to express ship Fox valley which is supposed to come in tomorrow. She hasn’t choked and I’ve made the formula correctly. The can is new and I keep it in the freezer, so it lasts 6 months. She’s either allergic to the formula, was to malnutriished to keep it down, or something else is wrong with her internally. If she throws up anymore I will probably switch her to fox valley tomorrow.

The easiest of all formulas for them to digest is the goats milk formula. But, because it doesn’t have all the proper nutrition they need it is not meant for long term (as in months) use. Maybe it would be helpful to put her on the goats milk formula and see how she does, if she throws up again.

I understand diluting her formula for her to adjust to it, but that also can’t go on for a long period of time because you are also diluting the concentration of nutrients.

The goats milk formula is: 3 parts goats milk, 1 part heavy whipping cream and 1 part full fat yogurt (vanilla is a good choice)

The goats milk is available in powdered, concentrate or fresh form, the powdered and concentrate must be mixed with water per package instructions. The fresh form will be in the refrigerated section with the milk.

Which Fox Valley did you order? We do not recommend feeding the 32/40 version of Fox Valley. Many squirrels have died from it because it sits in their stomachs like cement.

I ordered the 20/50. She hasn’t thrown up today so maybe it was because she was so malnurished. I’m slowly strengthening the formula back to normal. If she throws up again I will switch to fox valley or goat milk
