It's very clear that the cat who was playing with the squirrel has broken its back. It is trying to climb the tree but just hangs there from its front paws. I'm in Maine where everything is very far away and vets close at 5. I don't know what to do.
Thanks

Are you able to bring the squirrel inside where it is safe from predators?

I've done nothing so far. I don't want to hurt it further or further freak it out. We chased the cat away.

If you can can, please bring him in and place him in a secure place with fleece or t shirts material so he can hide under. Place some apple in with him to give him moisture and something to eat. Let him sleep and assess him in the morning. As he is, he is just available for easy pickings from a predator.

Thankyou for caring.

I agree with redwuff, if he stays outside he will die. Admin, do we have a member(s) in Maine who can help? Can you Email him to let him know to bring the squirrel inside in case he didn't see redwuff's last post, and get contact info so a Maine member can contact him direct to assist?

Sorry, but the squirrel had disappeared last night after I started this. This morning, we saw it across the street in the same condition. I am not sure where it is now. I'll try more when I get home. I live in Central Maine. Thanks, everyone.
